Cake Smash Session

This past Sunday I had the pleasure of capturing baby Lucas’ cake smash session at a Christmas tree farm. I just can’t believe that this little nugget is turning 1. It feels like yesterday when I met Lucas for the very first time for some newborn pictures. He has grown so much since then and I was super excited to be a part of his very first birthday celebration.

And to celebrate, I met Shawna, Juan and little Lucas at the Spring Creek Growers Christmas tree farm. I love photographing you at places that have a special meaning to you and this tree farm is such a place for Shawna and Juan. They’ve been coming here for a few years now to pick out their Christmas tree. I remember seeing a post from last year. Shawna was pregnant with their sweet baby boy, looking forward to bringing him to this farm next year to pick out a tree together. And here they are, back at the farm, picking out a tree together as a family and capturing some fun cake smash photos.

This little family is very dear to my heart and part of my family. Lucas’ first year hasn’t been the easiest. Born premature, he had to spent the first few months at the hospital. Not an easy time for any new parent. We were all so happy when he was finally allowed to go home with mommy and daddy and meet his furry brothers. When you see Lucas now, you wouldn’t expect any of the challenges he had to overcome within his first few months. He’s so smart and curious. His little smiles brighten up a room and warm your heart in a second. He’s a fighter and I’m sure he won’t let anything stop him for achieving what he wants.

Shawna, Juan and Lucas, thank you very much for making me a part of this very special milestone. You don’t know how much it means to me to be able to capture your family’s journey for you. I can’t wait to photograph more family memories for you.
